Dish in Powder Blue Glaze
Ju Ware
Sung Dynasty
(A.D. 960-1279)
Height 4.4cm
Diameter of mouth 21.4cm
This dish has a round
slightly contracted mouth,
a curved shallow cavetto,
a flat base, and a rather
tall ring foot. The base
of the foot has a rolled
rim which is fitted with
a bronze ring. On the base
of the vessel is inscribed
a pentasyllabic regulated
verse in the calligraphy
of the Ch'ien-lung Emperor.
There are also five spur
marks, exposing the pale
buff body.
